NEW PARENTS and THEIR CHILDREN

This section is for pictures and comments from our new adoptive parents. We welcome our new parents to send us pictures of their new equine children as they learn and grow.

JUST A HORSE

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse," or, "that's a lot of money for just a horse".
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent or the costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a horse."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a horse," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise."
"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a horse" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man." ~

Note from Hercules as dictated to his mom, Michelle since it is hard for him to hold the pen:
"Hey there...It's me Herk, the jerk! I go by Hercules these days because I am told I am not a jerk anymore! I sure do miss you and all my friends at Eagle Hill. I have a bunch of new friends here with my mom. I am not allowed to hang out with Smokey, my mom's old friend, because he teaches me things like how to bang on my stall door or gates. He also taught me to get up on the front steps of the house and stomp my foot on the steps when people are running late for feeding. I think Smokey is really cool and he tries to share well most of the time!
I found out I like persimmons, but I got in trouble for pushing the fence over to get to them. Good thing I am cute!
I understand now that when my mom calls for me, I am supposed to come... not make her chase me. She still does not think that game is funny!!
I have learned how to carry people around in this thing called a saddle. Every one here thinks it was great to learn that in one hour, but I say that dogs with soccer balls are more frightening!
I wanted to let you know how I have been doing since you found me a forever home. Most of all I want to thank you for helping me and my friends at Eagle Hill out by finding us homes. Thanks for finding me a mom who will hold my head when I get too scared and who loves me very much.
Love always,
Hercules."
