COST to ADOPT

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN SPONSORSHIP?

Sponsorship is the cost of just getting the horse out of danger and to the safety of the rescue where it will be temporarily kept. Once adopted, this sponsorship money is used to get another horse to a safe haven. Sponsorship is about $450 and we pool smaller donations to save as many horses as we can. Once adopted the original $450 is used to pay for yet another foal in need. Any cash donation will be most welcome.
In the case of local adoptions, we have a hauler who may be able to assist in transporting your new horse or foal once it arrives in Virginia.  They will be charging $75 for delivery within 35 miles of Eagle Hill Farm. Arrangements can also be made for gelding of colts prior to their departure – Cost $150.

WHAT IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY?

Everything at this point is extremely time sensitive. Our main goal is to save the animal and to do that, we need the help and heart of the public. Some of these animals will be traveling from as far away as 2,600 miles. The road begins in Canada or North Dakota and requires about 3 days, with stops along the way for rest. Once they arrive at EHF they are greeted by volunteers who provide them with hay, water, grain and lots and lots of love. Most all horses are in quarantine for 30 days to verify their health and are wormed and given their first series of shots. Our horses' medical care is closely supervised by Drs. Carrie McColgan and David Licciardello of Rappahannock Equine Veterinary Clinic in Locust Grove, Virginia
